Dental Implants For People With Severe Bone Loss

All-on-4 Implants vs. Traditional Options

Among the available modern solutions for tooth loss, there are several significant differences. Though the most traditional and initially affordable option, dentures aren’t a long-term solution, and can actually cause bone loss in your jaw. Implant supported dentures are longer-lasting and more secure solution, but their improvements are limited. Comparatively, our All-on-4 dental implants in Rockville, MD and Washington, DC are the very best option for tooth replacement. See for yourself!

Our Patient Journey

Step 1: Personalized Consultation

personalized consultation

Your All-on-4 implant journey at Perio & Implant at Washington Metro begins with a personalized consultation. Dr. Li will scan your mouth and jaw with a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner and an iTero® intraoral camera in order to create surgical guides to determine where to place the implants. She’ll then schedule you for your surgical appointment.

Step 2: Precise Dental Implant Placement

During the procedure, Dr. Li will remove any remaining teeth and place four titanium posts in strategic locations of your jaw. Over the next several months, these posts will fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. During the surgery, you will be sedated, so your time in the chair will pass quickly! You’ll come out of surgery with a temporary but natural-looking set of teeth.

Step 3: Check-Up Appointment

The check-up appointment is a critical part of your recovery: Here, Dr. Li will make sure your mouth is healing as it should, and that your swelling has gone down. At this appointment, she’ll also measure you for your final prosthesis.

What Are Your Dental Implant Options?

You have a few options when it comes to getting dental implants in Washington, DC and Rockville, MD. You can get a full set of All-on-4 dental implants, which are permanently attached to your jaw and act like normal permanent teeth, or if you like being able to remove your dentures, implant supported dentures may be the best option for you. With this option, Dr. Li installs a series of titanium posts into your jaw, which then attach to a set of dentures that you can easily remove. Implant supported dentures reduce jawbone loss compared to traditional dentures, and they are also much more secure because they attach to your jaw implants without needing adhesive.
